About this policy

This policy explains how BaseStocks handles information when you use basestocks.fi and the BaseStocks interface.

BaseStocks has no accounts. You do not register, choose a password, or give us an email address to use it. Most of what follows is therefore about information that is already public, or that never leaves your browser.

Information we collect

We handle a small amount of information, and only what the interface needs to work:

• Your wallet address, once you connect a wallet. It is a public identifier, not a name.
• Content you choose to publish: forum posts and comments, token names, symbols, descriptions, images, and social links.
• Preferences stored in your browser, such as your light or dark theme choice.
• Technical data our infrastructure records to serve pages and resist abuse, including IP address, user agent, and request timing.

Sources of information

Information reaches us in three ways: you provide it, your browser sends it automatically when it requests a page, or we read it from the public blockchain and from data providers that index it.

We do not buy personal data, and we do not combine what you do here with profiles from other services.

How we use information

We use information to operate the interface, and for nothing else of consequence:

• Show your balances, positions, and activity for the wallet you connected.
• Publish the forum content and token details you chose to publish.
• Prepare transactions for your wallet to sign.
• Keep the service available and defend it against abuse.
• Understand aggregate usage so we can improve the interface.

Legal bases

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing a functioning interface, on the performance of our agreement with you when you ask the interface to do something, on your consent where you provide content voluntarily, and on legal obligation where one applies.

Blockchain information

This is the part that deserves your attention. Transactions you sign are written to Base, a public blockchain. They are visible to anyone, permanently, and neither we nor you can remove them.

Anyone can read the full history of a wallet address: what it bought, when, at what price, and what it holds. If your address is linked to your identity anywhere — an exchange withdrawal, a social profile, a domain name — that link extends to everything the address has ever done.

We cannot edit, hide, or delete blockchain data. No request to us can change that, because the data is not ours to change.

How we disclose information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We disclose information to the service providers that run the interface, to the extent they need it; where the law requires it or a valid legal request compels it; where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect the rights and safety of users; and to a successor if the service is transferred.

Content you publish — posts, comments, token details — is disclosed to everyone, because publishing it is the point.

Third-party services

The interface depends on services we do not control, and connecting to them reveals your IP address to them under their own policies.

• Base RPC providers, which broadcast transactions and read chain state.
• Wallet software and its connection infrastructure.
• Market data and indexing providers used for prices and token listings.
• IPFS gateways, which serve token images.
• Our hosting and edge infrastructure, which serves pages and stores forum content.

Browser storage

We store a small amount of data in your browser to make the interface usable: your theme preference, your wallet connection state, and a session token for the forum when you sign in with your wallet.

This storage is functional. We do not use advertising cookies and do not run third-party tracking pixels. Clearing your browser storage clears all of it, and only costs you your preferences.

Retention

Published content stays until you or we remove it. Technical logs are kept only as long as they are useful for operating and securing the service. Browser storage lasts until you clear it.

Blockchain data is permanent and outside any retention period we could set.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and restricted access to stored data.

The most important security property of BaseStocks is that we never hold your private keys or your funds, so they cannot be taken from us. It also means we cannot recover them for you.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International processing

The interface is served from distributed infrastructure, and information may be processed in countries other than yours, including outside the European Economic Area, under protections appropriate to the transfer.

A public blockchain is global by construction: data written to it is replicated worldwide and cannot be confined to a region.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise them.

Two limits are worth stating plainly. We cannot delete blockchain data, because it is not ours to delete. And because we hold almost nothing tied to your identity, a request often has little to act on: disconnecting your wallet and clearing your browser storage removes most of what exists.

United States disclosures

For residents of US states with applicable privacy laws: we do not sell personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and do not use it for profiling that produces legal effects.

You may exercise your rights by contacting us, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

Children

The interface is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will remove what we can.

Policy changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top identifies the current version, and continuing to use the interface after that date means you accept the update.
